Don't let the media fool you. Yes, we have a long way to go, but we must not dismiss the progress we have already made in America. History is history! We must teach the FACTS! FACTS are racism is real. Many people have been taught through family, history and different social arenas who they should associate or should agree with. As Christians, we have been given a mandate to "love our neighbors as ourselves", which is stated in John 13:34. But do many know what that truly means? I even ask myself that question. Most people can't truly love others because they haven't been taught to truly love one’s self. Self-love is an unconditional acceptance of who you are and trusting God to make you who He wants you to be.
When we truly love ourselves and other people, we must push past all the lies, hatred and miseducation in order to build true genuine relationships with people and seek truth. In the book of Genesis, it says that God created us all in His image. Thankfully, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Spending millions of dollars to remove and rename part of America's history will not change the fact that Africans were enslaved in America as a part of the North American slave trade economic system.
Often, we are moved by emotions due to videos & photos that only tell a portion of the story. Remember to never judge a book by its cover, you never know what's been placed on for you to read. We must get rid of prejudice/stereotypes and get to know people. I have friends from all backgrounds, all ages and all races. This is what being an American is truly about. Understanding that people are different! Liberty and justice for all. I challenge you to step outside your comfort zone & embrace the difference in those around you. Realizing that we all can learn from each other, teaching the next generation what unity is truly about, and coming together to make a positive difference.
